Sune Jonsson – Prag Augusti 1968 (1968)

The documentary assignment was carried out on behalf of the magazine VI together with the journalist Dag Lindberg to reflect the so-called Prague Spring. After a political change in the Czech Republic the USSR didn’t accept the reforms and sent around half a million troops to stop the changes. While the Soviet military had predicted that it would take four days to subdue the country, the resistance held out for eight months until diplomatic maneuvers finally circumvented it. There were sporadic acts of violence and several protest suicides, but no military resistance.
