Cats are probably one of the most common subjects in photography, seducing the photographers to the point that, in the 1960s the photographer Joseph R. Spies coined the word “catographers” for those who used to photograph these animals. Through the photos of cats we can also see the history of photography and how interestes change, from just cats in windows to complex ideas where these little friends appear totally integrated in a scene obeying the photographers purpose.

The photographers published in this book are Weegee, Koudelka, Cartier-Bresson, Jill Freedman, Elliott Erwitt, and Duane Michals to name a few of the dozens of the “catographers” featured.
