Salvador Costa – Punk (1977)

Salvador Costa was in the correct place when he decided to take these pictures. This is the first photobook about punk and it was published when Costa returned to Barcelona after seeing The Jam, Sex Pistols and many more in London in 1977.  He was being guided by his cousin Jordi Valls (Vagina Dentata Organ) and the book appeared more or less at the same time that other documents were created in Spain like “Punks o cómo colgarse un imperdible de la nariz”, a short documentary created by the public television. This book was a big reference for punks since Costa wasn’t only taking pictures of the bands but also the outfits of the crowd, the ways they acted in this small community, etc.
